Interior design and comprehensive renovation project in the Eixample
A home for a growing family.
Sergi and Rocío came to our studio just a few days after finding out they were expecting a child. Suddenly, their needs and desires began to change: they needed a room for the baby, a new kitchen that was more practical and functional, and, while they were at it, “let’s update the bathrooms and get rid of the dark hallway at the entrance to the home.”
Although their initial plan wasn’t to reconfigure the layout, moving some walls and removing others turned out to be the key to giving the entire home a fresh new look—with more light, a sense of openness, and fewer trips down hallways. As a result, not only did the kitchen and bathrooms become more beautiful, but they also gained comfort, brightness, and convenience for the family’s daily life.
Consequently, the final solution involved reconfiguring the various spaces to create a children’s room and expand the living room, kitchen, and master bedroom, without sacrificing space in the other areas—as this was achieved solely by eliminating hallways. The rest was achieved through the arrangement of the furniture (combining existing pieces with some new and custom-made elements), the colors used on the walls and doors, and the lighting details, which provided the necessary flexibility in the bathrooms and kitchen.
