Interior design project for a house on Rambla Catalunya
This more than one hundred year old house is located in one of the most sought after areas of Barcelona’s Eixample district.
The project consisted of adapting the space for a couple based in Switzerland and with a second residence in Barcelona. The challenge was to adapt the space to their needs while at the same time preserving the original elements of the building, characteristic of Barcelona’s early 19th century architecture. To this end, we had to polish the hydraulic flooring and order new pieces to replace those that were damaged, repair the mouldings and coffered ceilings after demolition and changes in layout, as well as restoring the interior and exterior woodwork. Once the space had been repaired and cleaned up, the furniture and lighting were arranged to obtain an open-plan, elegant and extremely comfortable home in which both the colour palette used and the materials used provide a comfortable, peaceful and timeless space, despite being in the heart of the city centre.
